The Saddest Competition Continues Since Pete Carroll Thinks The Seahawks Have TWO No. 1 Quarterbacks
I have nothing against the Seahawks. I have nothing against Pete Carroll - in fact I thank him for making USC football a shit ton of fun to watch when I was in high school/early parts of college. I have nothing against Seattle - I think they should get a basketball team back. This is strictly me saying this is the saddest quarterback competition I can imagine.
In one corner - Drew Lock, known for rapping on the sidelines and getting attacked by a tennis account.
In the other corner we have Geno Smith, known for getting punched by a teammate and ruining every Giants fan.
The fact is neither of these guys are the answer. It's why I think Seattle is going to stink this year. You have to have a quarterback - not exactly breaking news. Saying you have two No. 1 quarterbacks is the same as saying you don't have one. There's nothing they've done in their careers to go yep, that's the guy. That's the guy who can get us to 9 wins.
At some point Carroll has to make a call. It's going into the last preseason game and I get that you want to leave all options open. But how many teams don't have their starting quarterback yet? Even the Panthers made a decision on Baker.
I get that you're looking basically for a gap filler between Russell Wilson and whoever is next. I also know that tanking doesn't happen until later in the year, but it also feels like a prime tank year. Go get a quarterback early in next year's draft.
Geno Smith vs Drew Lock. A true QB competition in 2022.
